Jim has worked in the arts his entire career as a professional musician, arts administrator and consultant. He served as Executive Director of the Old Town School of Folk Music from 1982-2000. During his tenure at OTS the organization's budget increased from $225,000 to over $7 million and expanded to its current home in Lincoln Square. Jim then served as Executive Director of the Chicago Theatre (and Vice President of the Chicago Association for the Performing Arts) from 2000-2004, and Executive Director of the Chicago Sinfonietta from 2004 - present. The Sinfonietta was selected in 2016 as one of only fourteen recipients of the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, the genius award for organization. The organization was also selected to receive The Spirit Award by Chicago Innovation Week. Specialties: Jim has experience as a strategic planning, marketing and fundraising consultant, and as a presenter for arts gatherings on a variety of subjects.
