About
LuminAID is the world's first creator of pack-flat solar lanterns and phone chargers. Durable, waterproof, and tested for extreme conditions, LuminAID lanterns are designed for camping, backpacking, kayaking, emergency prep, backyards, pools, and anywhere light is useful. Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stork invented LuminAID's solar lighting technology just after the Haiti earthquake in 2010. They were inspired to design a simple, rechargeable light that could be cost-effectively distributed after disasters. LuminAID's solar inflatable light technology is patented in the US, with additional patent applications pending worldwide. The company has won numerous awards and has been invited to the White House on several occasions. In February 2015, LuminAID's founders Anna and Andrea pitched the "Sharks" on ABC's primetime TV show, Shark Tank. They walked out of the tank with an investment deal from billionaire Mark Cuban, who became LuminAID's first investor. LuminAID lights have been used in more than 100 countries across the world. Passionate about sharing light with those who need it most, LuminAID has distributed tens of thousands of lights to families without electricity after some the world’s most devastating recent disasters including Hurricane Maria, the Syrian refugee crisis, and the Nepal earthquakes.Relevant People
