After graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA), chef Zack Sklar began catering small parties throughout the Hudson Valley in New York. Word spread quickly and soon Sklar was booking everything from intimate dinners to 250 person events. After a visit home to the suburbs of Detroit, Sklar quickly realized that there was an immense unmet need for high quality catering options in the area. In 2007, Cutting Edge Cuisine catering was born, and today operates as one of Michigan’s premier caterers with clients including Google, Amazon, GM, Mercedes-Benz, and Microsoft — to name a few. In 2012, Sklar opened Social Kitchen & Bar, an upbeat restaurant with a lively bar crowd and thoughtful comfort food, in downtown Birmingham, MI. Following the success of Social, Sklar founded Peas & Carrots Hospitality in order to expand his empire. Sklar opened Mex: Bloom eld Hills in 2013, Beau’s Grillery in 2014, Bernie’s Lunch & Supper and Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken (both in Chicago) in 2015, and Mex: Great Lakes Crossing in 2017.
