I love building things - products, companies, industries. I also have an inexplicable fondness for parenthesis. I’m one of the few lucky ones that has had a chance to do what I love for a career (and have fun doing it). Today I’m the co-founder and CEO of mLevel. While I never thought I’d be running a learning company, I’ve seen firsthand many times how big of a need there is for effective learning within enterprises. It was a challenge too big for me to pass up. mLevel isn’t my first startup. I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. After starting my career at Accenture in their advanced technology consulting practice, I started my first company, Curious Networks. After transitioning that, I was asked by one of our board members to help Interface Software, another of his early stage companies. Interface was acquired by Lexis Nexis. I was asked to come back to Accenture to start and build their enterprise mobility practice. We grew that to a highly profitable, 50 person practice in just a few years. I’d probably still be at Accenture, but the travel got tough on the family and when Slalom Consulting called and offered me the chance to stay local and build an entire technology practice from the ground-up, my wife (and I) accepted. Slalom was amazing. In less than 4 years, I built a phenomenal team and culture and we built a 100 person practice doing over $40M in revenue. Plus I helped build a couple highly successful national practices. I also had the honor of winning numerous awards including Consulting Magazine's Top 25 Consultants for 2012. The CEO of Slalom then came to me and gave me and another colleague from Slalom another opportunity I couldn’t pass up – the opportunity to build mLevel and spin it out. Now everything comes together. I get to use my technology background, business strategy expertise, leadership skills, team building skills, sales and partnership development skills, and get to make a real difference in people’s lives.
