Dan Michelson is the CEO of Strata Decision Technology where his focus is to ensure the company delivers on its passion – helping hospitals and health networks drive margin to fuel their mission. The Company’s solutions are used by over 1,000 healthcare organizations, including many of the largest and most influential healthcare systems in the U.S. Under his leadership, Strata has increased exponentially in size, scale, sophistication, impact and reputation. The company has been recognized three times as one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine, has been named three times as one of the best places to work in healthcare by Becker’s Healthcare and has received the prestigious “Best in KLAS” recognition for the highest customer satisfaction by KLAS Enterprises three times. Additionally, Dan is a two-time finalist for Illinois Technology CEO of the Year.
With over 25 years of healthcare experience, Dan has been one of the industry’s leaders in developing the healthcare information technology market, including serving as one of the original work group members of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology and authoring the book Margin + Mission: A Prescription for Curing Healthcare’s Cost Crisis. Prior to joining Strata, Dan was a member of the leadership team that grew a small healthcare IT company grow from 100 to over 6,000 employees and from $26 million to over $1.4 billion in annual revenue and was an influential player in shaping the Electronic Health Record market . He has provided strategy and process redesign consulting for many of the leading hospitals and health systems in the U.S. and served in leadership roles for Baxter Healthcare and AstraZeneca, two leading medical companies.
Dan is the co-founder of projectMUSIC™, a benefit concert that sends underprivileged children to overnight camp and of HackHunger™, a collaborative of tech companies working to crack the code on childhood hunger.
Dan earned his BS in Finance from Indiana University and his MBA from DePaul University. He is an avid runner, having completed 15 marathons. Dan and his wife Kim have two children who are teaching them more and more every day.
