They have created “smarter endcaps” that combine wine racks with an interactive touchscreen displays to engage shoppers at the point of decision-making. Placed in the meat, fish and cheese departments, these kiosks provide a highly effective method to generate impulse and food-specific purchases. The shopper gets quick and easy food and wine pairing suggestions as Savvo puts together the experience for them. Suppliers understand the importance of reaching the shopper before they ever get to the crowded wine aisle, and retailers appreciate the incremental value the kiosk brings by building the shopper’s basket. Savvo has expanded its product offering by releasing a consumer app on the iTunes store called BeerMapper (www.BeerMapperApp.com); which allows craft beer aficionados to discover their next favorite beer. The BeerMapper technology will be converted to do the same thing for the wine world and maximize both the in-store and mobile channels.
