About

Steve Blye, AIA, LEED AP, is the Associate Director of Healthcare and Senior Design Director at Legat Architects. Steve applies his boundless energy and enthusiasm to projects for hospital systems around the country. He quickly transforms client goals into descriptive drawing concepts, leading design teams through all project phases and ensuring concepts compliance through the end of the project.

In late 2018, Steve received the national Healthcare Facilities Conference and Expo’s Individual Award for profound contribution to the healthcare industry. His design for the Silver Cross Hospital campus won the Chicago Building Congress “Project of the Year” award in 2013. Although known for his expertise in healthcare facility design, Steve recently won awards for his design of higher education (The Ohio State Spine Research Institute), K-12 education (Glenbard West High School Science Wing) and governmental (Arlington Heights Police Department). His landmark designs in downtown Chicago include the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and the Prentice Women’s Hospital.

Among his past and present healthcare clients are Children’s Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Medicine, Central DuPage Hospital, Delnor Community Hospital, Lake Forest Hospital, Presence Health, Centegra Health, Loyola University Health System, Edward Hospital, Carolinas HealthCare System, The Ohio State University, and others.

Steve is a member of the Board at Presence (now AMITA) Health and Lambda Alpha Land Economics Society, served on the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association’s 2025 Policy Plan committee, and has judged university student projects and national design competitions. Several galleries have displayed Steve’s watercolor paintings, and he illustrated “The Dangerous Pet,” a children’s book that teaches financial responsibility.

Steve received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana (UIUC) and studied architectural design at L’Unité Pédagogique d’Architecture III in Versailles, France.
