ASI, Inc. appointed Marta Cerda, J.D., as Executive Director in May 2013. ASI is a certified bilingual and bi-cultural home care agency that currently provides more than 1,000 low-income senior citizens and disabled individuals with non-medical services that enable them to remain in their familiar home environments.
ASI is a leader in the home care industry and is known for the high quality of its services, with compassionate and knowledgeable home care workers. The workforce is a product of a strong supervision system and the 100 hours of training employees receive. ASI’s dedicated staff members have enabled thousands of clients, especially members of Chicago’s Latino and African-American communities, to lead independent, dignified lives.
A long-time board member and recent President of the ASI Board of Directors, Ms. Cerda steps into her new role with a wealth of knowledge and experience in public administration. She has served in leadership positions in the public sector for over 25 years in the areas of workforce development and supplier diversity. She was the first Latina to chair the Board of Directors of Norwegian American Hospital and to chair Century PHO, a physician group. She also served as Board President of Mujeres Latinas en Accion and on the Executive Committee of Golden Apple Foundation. As a National Hispana Leadership Institute fellow, Cerda completed programs at the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Cerda is a graduate of Smith College and Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
