Italian-born Mario Tricoci began his career in Europe at an early age, rapidly advancing within his profession throughout the international beauty industry. Mario launched his American hairstyling career in the Chicago area over 40 years ago and participated in numerous national and international competitions where he gained significant notoriety. Today, Mario is globally recognized as a trend-setter and visionary in the beauty industry.
Mario opened his first salon in Villa Park, Illinois, and eventually moved to a larger location in Des Plaines. However, in the 70’s he broke all the rules by abandoning the traditional model for “beauty shops” to create a new Mario Tricoci brand. This included opening the first privately owned salon in a major shopping mall, Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, Illinois. Embracing the fresh, free styles of the era, Mario pioneered cuts with layers and movement perfecting the blow dry which had not been done in salons before. The new business model flourished, new locations were added and Mario kept innovating. In the 80’s he opened the Midwest’s first Day Spa in Arlington Heights, Illinois and Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas have been trailblazing and bringing the latest trends to our guests ever since. Soon after launching the spas, Mario developed his own line of Hair Care products, Mario Tricoci Hair Care, and expanded to private branded skincare and custom blend cosmetics all of which can be purchased in the Salon & Spa locations. Currently, Mario Tricoci operates 14 salons and spas throughout Chicagoland. He shares his passion for the industry with each and every staff member through training and by hiring only those whose passion defines them in their chosen field. He also shares his talent and expertise with students through the 10 schools he founded to develop the beauty professionals of the future.
In the spring of 2006, Mario was honored with the inaugural International Legends Award from the National Cosmetology Association. Respected by his peers among the hairdressing elite, Mario has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Intercoiffure America/Canada. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Intercoiffure Mondial (worldwide organization) headquartered in Paris and Switzerland, as well as an honorary member of the Cosmetologists Chicago Association.
Mario and his work has been featured in many leading beauty industry and consumer publications and he is recognized locally and nationally as a style and beauty authority. He has appeared on numerous national and local television shows and is a popular guest on Chicago radio. Mario Tricoci was twice nominated as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by INC. Magazine and remains “forever a student” as he pursues the next new concepts and innovations in beauty for today’s consumer.
