Originally known as State Bank of Countryside, Countryside Bank was founded in 1975 by Jack Wheeler, who believed in building personal relationships and being an active part of the community. His son, John D. Wheeler, current President and Chief Executive Office of the bank, is continuing to embrace this legacy. An experienced leader with a track record of managing and overseeing all aspects of the Chicagoland banks, Wheeler is continuing the 40 plus year tradition of building relationships and offering products and services to help customers build a better life. Wheeler is responsible for the strategic vision, growth, finances and operational success of all five Countryside Bank locations. He is a results-oriented leader, focused on growing the various day-to- day operations of the Commercial Banking, Retail and Branch Operations, Business Banking, Treasury Management, Information Systems, Human Resources, Mortgage Compliance and Marketing departments. Prior to joining Countryside Bank, Wheeler worked at Telluride and American National Bank. Wheeler earned his Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern University, Kellogg Graduate School of Management and his Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University. He is active in his community and is a former member of the Board of Trustees at Nazareth Academy. A life-long Chicago native, Wheeler currently resides in Hinsdale with his wife and four children.
