About
A native of Oklahoma, Jerry received his Bachelors in Environmental Design (BSED) from the University of Oklahoma. During his tenure there, he was able to study abroad for a year at the Architectural Association in London, focusing on Low Income Urban Housing. Jerry began his career as an architect and designer, with Gensler, the world’s largest design firm, as one of the youngest project architects. While at Gensler, he won their prestigious international in-house design competition. Jerry then moved to a start up design firm, Lehman Smith McLeish. After a few years he moved to another start up design firm Core Group, now Core. Specializing in law firms across the nation, Jerry has won more than two-dozen design and construction awards for excellence and quality from the professional design organizations IIDA and AIA. In 1995, Jerry was approached by the VP of National Sales of Invision Carpet System to assist in launching of the three month old company. Within his position as Territory Manager in Ohio and then in Chicago, he was a key component in generating sales for a company that went from no sales to 10 million in 3 years. In addition to his sales responsibilities, he was instrumental in the development of new carpets for the product line. Due to Jerry’s outstanding success at Invision, he was asked to develop a Chicago based sales force for another new carpet mill, Constantine. Due to Jerry’s previous successes and his background in design, he was again asked to assist in developing new carpets for a product line that focused on a higher-end of commercial corporate and retail design projects. Jerry was in the top 5% of salesmen for this company, generating over $15 million dollars in sales over a six year period. Jerry was then recruited by Lees Carpets. At Lees, Jerry was again asked to develop a new sales team, and as Team Leader, to turn around sales for the Chicago/Midwest Region of the Lees division of Mohawk carpets. The team moved from $5.9 to $9m in just a couple of years, when Jerry was then moved over to the Karastan team as Team Leader.
