As the leader of one of the Midwest’s largest truly independent insurance brokerages, Macknin is responsible for guiding the successful strengthening and growth of Alper Services. He focuses sharply on delivering best-in-class risk management and insurance services to middle market businesses and organizations in Chicagoland, the United States and internationally. During his five-year tenure of the now 50 year-old firm, Macknin and his “Team of Experts” have nearly doubled revenues to $10 million, and has charted a course to (yet again) double the size of the company in the next five to six years.
Throughout his career, Macknin has proven his expertise in risk management consultancy and insurance brokerage for mid-market and expanding enterprises. With thirty three years of professional expertise in risk management, property and casualty and employee benefits, he uniquely knows how to explain and deliver Enterprise Risk Management to the middle market. David is widely recognized for partnering with professional services, technology, real estate, manufacturing, and social service organizations to identify, understand, and treat their business risks.
Macknin joined Alper Services in early 2012 after having served as Executive Vice President and Principal of Chicago-based JMB Insurance, with whom he spent eighteen years.
Macknin is active in several civic endeavors, including President of Lakeside Congregation, on the Presidents’ Committee of The Development School For Youth, on the Business Advisory Council of JVS-Chicago and as an American Board Officer of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival of Canada. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Michigan earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter designation.
