About

Brian is Founder and CEO of HigherGround Managed Services, a full-service IT and consulting firm that partners with entrepreneurs and leaders of small to medium-sized organizations. Brian started his career designing and maintaining hospital computer systems for labor and delivery departments. At 20, he published and defended two security papers at the World Congress of Applied Computing. Graduating early from Illinois State University, Brian joined the Security Engineering Division at Discover Card. After launching HigherGround in 1998, Brian grew the company from a single person residential practice to a company with enterprise pedigree consultants to one of the leading IT consulting firms in Chicagoland offering full stack managed services consulting (CIO down to helpdesk), strategic consulting, application development, and concierge IT (boutique residential IT services). Brian was named a “35 Under 35” scholar from the Chicago Scholars Foundation, and serves on their board. He graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in 2017. A sought after presenter, Brian often speaks on business continuity, security and how small businesses can use technology to accelerate their growth plans. An avid cyclist and bourbon aficionado, Brian lives in Bucktown with his wife.
