Steve Sprieser

About

Steve Sprieser is an information systems entrepreneur and endurance athlete from Chicago, Illinois.  He is the co-founder of Varsa Health, a healthcare data analytics startup specializing in behavioral health. He holds an M.S. in Library and Information Science and B.S. in Information Systems / Information Technology, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At the University of Illinois, he co-founded the startup advisory organization, IDEA, as well as maintained an active research position with the Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative. Steve’s research focused on creating entrepreneurship literacy programs for low-literate learners in the developing world, as well as understanding consumer needs in constrained and under-developed markets. Additionally, he has worked for Chicago-based Apervita and Intelligent Medical Objects. Steve also served as a consultant for Illinois Business Consulting, the largest student-run consulting firm in the country, where he specialized in start-up development. He also worked in an advisory role to turning the Midwest into a regional tech cluster. In his free time, he’s a long-distance runner with the goals of participating in a marathon or Ironman triathlon in every state and on every continent.
