Laura Trouille, PhD, has been leading the Adler Planetarium’s Citizen Science efforts, including Zooniverse. In this video she talks about how she used her growing expertise to bridge her research experience with volunteers. One of the challenges that came up was the moment the Zooniverse program became an important project builder throughout the world. A wonderful situation but, they had to scale up their project review process and Trouille describes how she needed to gather a large group of volunteers to accomplish their goals. She needed to quickly find the volunteers and bring value to them though the prestige of participating in the program and acknowledging their efforts. Being able to act quickly and show value and appreciation to the Zooniverse volunteers is what helped to bring about this huge group of volunteers to help manage the review process of projects completed on the Zooniverse platform.
